New Book!

Another steamy hot day in Chi-town. I'm actually looking forward to winter and I never thought I'd say that! So, I've have a letter that I've been working on...a letter of introduction to a literary agent for my next manuscript. I've been perusing the internet looking at the pro's and con's of it all and am seriously befuddled.

Should I retain an agent or continue as an Indie author?

From what I've been reading, via the internet, it looks as if e-books are outselling hardcover and softcover books. But, on the other hand, people I've talked with say they still like the feel of a book between their hands and will only buy paper books.

Oh! The decisions!

I confess, I buy both, but then again, I just love to read.

In any event I'll continue to work on my letter and make a decision soon.

I'm currently working on my third manuscript, working title Stormy Waters. I'm excited about the characters and the internal as well external struggles they go through.

Speaking of which, I can hear them calling me!

Until next time!

Another hot day in Chicago means Kerrie will be sitting in an air conditioned house, typing away on her next manuscript (after doing the usual housework and grocery shopping).

I've recently acquired a free Kindle and have been down loading books like crazy and am wondering when I'll find the time to actually read them! So, now I have two e-readers with tons of books and no time. Such is life.

Friday nights are usually my nights to stay up until four Saturday morning writing because it's quiet and no distractions, but after working an 8 hour day and then doing yard work when I came home proved to be too much and I was tucked into bed at midnight.

It totally bummed me out! So, tonight I'll be burning the midnight oil and then some to catch up.  I hate when I'm at work and just want to write but the work thing gets in the way! So, I have to whip out my handy little steno pad and jot my thoughts down and save them for later.

On that note, I'd better get going and get my responsibilities done so I can do what I actually like doing....writing!

Okay, so I finished up with my latest book and now I'll begin my hunt for an agent. I don't understand why I can write a 500-600 page book and have an uber hard time writing a synopsis!  (shakes my head) It doesn't make sense!

"Merchants of Evil" is a suspenseful romance story with a hint of paranormal because I've thrown in Sir Eoghan, a medieval ghost.

And as I move along with my writing I'll be pulling characters from previous stories into the new ones.  Dr. Michael James makes a brief appearance in 'Merchants'. Kind of cheeky and sometimes it's hard to let go of certain characters!

Anyway, I'm very excited about it! It starts off in Chicago but then ends up in Ireland.  I had so much fun with the characters Camryn and Declan that I've decided to bring them back, momentarily, into the next manuscript I'm working on called Stormy Waters.

'Stormy' is still in the infant stage but Chase Storm is a very complex character and quite the smart ass, so he's fun to write.  Sometimes I'll be in the middle of housework and I'll just start chuckling to myself because I've come up with something cocky for Chase to say. The family thinks I'm losing it when they hear me laughing by myself.

Such is the life of a writer!

Off to do yard work and possibly to chuckle by myself!

Grrrrr!

I hate it when I'm in the shower and think of something really great that one character says to another and by time I finish drying off...the idea has completely left my brain! Then I spend countless minutes trying to remember.

I'll remember as soon as my head hits the pillow tonight.  Hmm...maybe a notepad and pen on nightstand would be a good idea?

Cover Art Work

By the way, I'd be remiss if I didn't give kudos to the talented creator of my book cover!  Amber Olenik did an outstanding job!  Many thanks to her and her patience!  Awesome job, Amber!

Music play list

Yep, I have them!  I gotta listen to certain songs to set my mood when I write.

After Recycled Souls was released I asked by someone what songs I listened to while writing it.  My first response was the Nickleback song, Gotta Be Somebody. Perfect song for the ending of the book! Listen to the words, you'll get my drift!

Here are the others, not necessarily in chronological order of the book and I'll add little notations where I placed these songs in the book.

The Blue Danube-Johann Strauss

All I Want-Staind (Poor Michael! He had a heck of a time winning Jessica over!)

Never Gonna Be Alone-Nickleback (the scene where Jessica is looking out her window thinking about the upcoming holidays without her parents. Michael wraps his arms around her...aww!)

Last Kiss-Pearl Jam (Michael sings along to the song as he and Jessica drive to a restaurant)

Love Hurts-Incubus (Michael is sitting in his car, staking out Jessica's house while Chad is there)

Fallin' For You-Colbie Caillat (when Jessica realizes that she's in love with Michael)

Impossible-Anberlin

Everlong-Foo Fighters

Bring Me to Life-Evanescence

This is just a small sample of the whole list.

I'm interested to know if anyone out there had some songs in mind as they read the book!

Recycled Souls

Recycled Souls is my first novel. It took me almost three years to complete as I agonized over every little aspect! After many rewrites and adjustments I finally felt confident that it was ready for publishing.  I'm happy with the finished product and hope that my readers are too!

If you haven't heard of or read my book, you can go to Amazon and read the first few chapters for free!

I was recently asked if I truly believed in reincarnation. Of course I do! Although we may not come back looking as we did in the past as Jessica and Michael do. I believe that after our physical body is gone our souls continue on, just waiting for the right time to be placed in another body.

This is a much too deep subject to carry on at this early hour.  I do, however, look forward to your comments!
